7 Myths about Chinese Face Reading

The practice of Chinese Face Reading can be met with skepticism in the West — how can someone’s face tell us about their personality or health, or for that matter, their future?

Several myths and misconceptions surround this ancient practice versus the better-known Western medicine and modern psychology.

This article will help debunk seven of the common myths about face reading.

Let’s unbox these Myths now

Myth #1:  Chinese face reading is not proven

Face reading is an ancient practice. Most of us in the West don't know how ancient. It can be traced as far back as Aristotle (384BC-322BC); Alexander the Great used it to help him choose his commanders; Abraham Lincoln used it to help decide on Cabinet members.

In China, face reading dates back to the Yellow Emperor in China and became a deeply ingrained part of their culture that is still practiced today.

Lillian Pearl Bridges brought the science of face reading to western medicine and worked extensively teaching medical professionals, further proving the legitimacy and effectiveness of this practice.  Our work is rooted in her foundational teachings, based in her Chen lineage.

Myth #2:  Chinese face readers are Psychic

No more than anyone else is! We all have been reading faces since birth and make quick assessments within seconds of seeing someone. It's part of our survival instinct.

To a professional reader, there's more to see and acknowledge - your face gives us information so it could look like we're reading your mind...

What's important is to look at the whole picture, Your features plus the lines, spots and shadings, like boy scout badges, tell us a bigger story about your character, emotions you've felt and your potential in life.

Myth #3:  Chinese face reading has a one-size-fits-all approach

Everyone’s face is different. Some insights a professional face reader can get are about disposition, leadership abilities, self-confidence, decision-making styles, natural talents.

Knowing your strengths, challenges and responses in life can give a greater self-awareness - the why’s behind our behaviour and tendencies. And that gives us more power over our actions and decisions.

The distinct gifts we have and are meant to use all show on our faces.

Myth #4:  Chinese face reading is a substitute for medical advice

Chinese Face Reading a diagnostic tool to add to medical practitioners’ knowledge. However, if anyone has a specific question about any medical matter, we encourage you consult with a qualified healthcare provider.

If you are looking for the benefit of an integrative, holistic approach to your healthcare, we consider the Chinese and Western disciplines to be complementary.  Each has value to offer.

Myth #5:  Its uses and applications are limited

In fact - it’s the opposite. Chinese Face Readers originally used the skill for health as well as matchmaking and business. It applies to hiring and sales, management and communication in business. In relationships, singles can use it to choose a well-matched mate or couples can use it to better understand each other.

Myth #6: Face Readers are always reading faces.

Only up to a point.  While it can an occupational hazard, there’s no need to hide or cover your face!

While we can see some general traits easily - the most transformative experiences are from a conversation and more in-depth look at your features.  We all experience and respond to life differently.  Those differences need to be honoured.  And that happens when we work together in discovery with our clients.

Myth #7: Any real benefit takes time and effort. Don’t expect fast results

Faces are holograms and very changeable based on what’s happening inside of us.  All the wrinkles we thought were permanent?  They are not. In a one hour consultation, energetic changes often happen and our clients features have altered.

It takes insights about who we are and what we need for wellness and life balance.  Chinese Face Reading makes these insights accessible.
